Influencers of Your Style Pathway

No woman is an island, and each of us has been influenced by significant others as we have travelled our style journey thus far.  Each of us has picked up and are carrying particular messages about who we are and our style – some of these messages may be unconscious, and many may also be out of date or not serving us well.

It’s important to identify who has influenced you, and how, and to consider how those influencers have shaped your style journey so far.  There’s a good chance that part of your current style reality, and a chunk of your style future, is connected to your style past.

Be open to what you might discover through these explorations.  Even if exploring the past isn’t your usual preference, there can be great value for you here.  What you don’t know can be getting in your way.  Awareness precedes choice so it’s time to shine the gentle light of awareness onto the style messages you carry with you.

You can then make informed decisions about how you choose to be influenced – whether from voices from the past or people in your present… or something or someone else of your choosing.

We’ll also look at who you influence others and what it’s like when the shoe is on the other foot style-influence wise.

There’s lots of exploration coming up – you’re invited to participate!

The Playshops

You’ll soon be invited to participate in the first Playshop of Your Type of Style, so let’s touch briefly on what these Playshops are designed to do.

  • The Playshops are designed for you to experiment. You are invited to give something a go, or try something new you’ve never done before, to try hands-on experimentation. Sometimes you might “fail”, which can be a terrific learning experience – the Playshops are a low-consequence way to do something, especially do something new in the service of learning.
  • The Playshops are the “practice by doing” (remember the Learning Pyramid from the Welcome Module) and are an invitation for you to take action. They get you out of your head and into your wardrobe or into some other space where you are moving.
  • The Playshops sometimes have some serious undertones to them, but they are always intended to be practical – you are applying concepts, trying things out.
  • Taking action is one of the best ways to learn anything. Combining learning the concepts with applying them in an activity represents best adult learning practices, which is why there are so many Playshops in this program.

Every time you see a Playshop, we invite you to jump into the activity, or walk gently into it, whichever you prefer!  Go at whatever pace suits you, but step into the action

Wrap Up Explorations

Each of the 12 Modules in this program are built around the central theme of participation.  The significant part of the learning will come less from new concepts (although you’ll find a good dose of those in this program) than from your participation with those concepts, including those in existing material such as your Style Type Report.

The adult learning principle at play here is that we learn not only from our experiences, but from reflecting on those experiences. The reflection part is critical – unless you are invited to contemplate what you’ve learned, much of the learning will not be acquired – it will simply evaporate into the ether.

We don’t want that to happen to you with this program.

You’ll start to become familiar with these Wrap Up Questions over the course of the program – they appear at the end of every Module, and they invite you to reflect on what you have learned and in this way they offer an unparalleled opportunity to deepen your experience and capture your learnings.  The wrap up questions differ in each Module.

To get the most out of this program, we encourage you to write your responses to these Wrap Up Questions down – don’t just read them or skim past them.  These Wrap Up Questions form an integral part of the learning experience in this program.
