Style Essence and Style Expression Playshops
PLAYSHOP: Integrating Style Essence and Style Expression
This is a series of Playshops you can undertake in this final Module of the program, and/over a period of time after the program has finished –perhaps ad infinitum into the future. These are Playshops you can return to, to keep you connected to your style essence.
The idea of these Playshops is to create outfits that tap into the essential elements of your Style Type. For each outfit you create, choose ONE element you wish to integrate, or use as the basis for your outfit. If you try to use more than one element at a time, it could easily become confusing and overwhelming, so set yourself up to succeed with this series of Playshops by picking ONE element at a time.
You may want to mix it up and create outfits based on ALL your learnings from the program, rotating through the key elements for you. You could be doing Playshops for weeks and months into the future, should you wish – there may be many elements of your style essence (your Style Type – the core of who you are) that you want to ensure are included in your style expression (how you look and the outfits you create).
So use the following playshops as jumping off points to get you started with integrating your style essence with your style expression in a ‘uniquely you’ way that really brings your style alive, and feels 100% like YOU.

PLAYSHOP: Integrating Style Essence and Style Expression
Referring to each of the Modules, there are many elements of your Style Type you may wish to include as the starting point, or foundation, of your outfit creation.
For each outfit, choose ONE of the following (otherwise: overwhelm!). You may want to mix it up and create outfits based on ALL your AHA’s and learnings from the program, rotating through the key elements for you. Which could include these:
- Your Style Aesthetic – an outfit that really encapsulates this
- Your Style Pillars and/or Values – putting together an outfit based on these
- Your Most Stylish Self – outfits that bring out the best in your innate qualities
- Your Go-To Dressing Styles – outfit creation based on your favorites
- Leading & Supporting Functions – outfits that express this essential part of your psychological DNA
- Style Strengths and Challenges – outfits that build on the former and offset the latter
- Wardrobing – an outfit that reflects the way your wardrobe has been organized and works for you
- Grooming/Self Care – ensembles that reflect the worth you place on yourself
- Ideas & Inspiration, Shopping, Rules – an outfit that taps into how you take in information and make style decisions (perhaps the Z Model for outfit creation)
- Color contrast, life style, yin/yang, future focused wardrobe
- Your Personal Operating Manual, your authentic style pathway and style blueprint

PLAYSHOP: Daily Outfit Challenge
Below are a series of daily outfit creation scenarios. Link the scenario to a key AHA or learning (from the previous page). Feel free to tweak or modify these to suit your particular circumstances, and to add to this list.
The idea is to create outfits that connect and integrate your style essence and your style expression for your life.
Create outfits for your authentic style expression:
- An outfit for attending a BBQ or other casual party/get-together
- Outfits for relaxing ‘at home’ (perhaps on weekend) – reading, eating, watching TV
- An outfit for wearing to the Doctor’s or other medical appointment
- An outfit for traveling by plane, train, automobile, boat, moped, caravan, bicycle…
- An outfit at your everyday level of refinement, be that at home, volunteering, family and friends activities, social or hobby activities, or for work
- An outfit at a higher or lower level of refinement than you normally wear
- An outfit that uses one of your “on probation” items (an item from your closet you haven’t let go of yet, but are seriously thinking of doing so, and soon)
- An outfit for cleaning house or gardening or other messy job
- An outfit that includes flat/walking shoes that look and feel fabulous
- An outfit for hiking, walking, bicycling or other outdoor leisure activity
- An outfit for visiting with children or parents, or other family members
- An outfit for a relaxed dinner party at home
- An outfit that feels like fun, or is light-hearted for you in some way
- An outfit for attending an event where you aren’t sure what the dress code is
- An outfit that mixes patterns in a way that’s new or experimental for you
- An outfit in monochrome- with contrasts in texture
- Outfits where you play with color schemes – two/three triadic colors, complementary or analogous colors, neutrals + colors together, all neutrals
- An outfit that includes something you normally reserve “just for good”
- An outfit for running errands
- An outfit where you combine your signature colors
- An outfit where you combine accessories in new ways for you (eg: layering necklaces)
- An outfit for the next holiday that you celebrate – Easter, Passover, Thanksgiving…
- An outfit with a scarf in a new way for you – tied differently, on purse, turban, etc
- An outfit where you wear different shoes than usual to change the level of refinement
- An outfit where you add a layer, a third piece, or an additional accessory
- An outfit that feels daring or exciting in some way for you
- An outfit inspired by your style muse or style icon
- An outfit that stretches you on the overdressed-underdressed continuum
Consider sharing these outfits on the FB Group and asking for your preferred feedback.
